Destroyed by NHS Labelling

A story of medical incompetence, negligence, doctor's narcissistic and neurotic tendencies, consultant's support of each other over and above the truth, selective observation to prove points, rather than genuine investigation of possibilities and the damage of Chinese whispers.

It all began in 1982. I lived in a newly bought house with my partner David of 13 years standing. I lived next to a nature reserve with two dogs in a science park with lots of other people who shared my academic interests. We were happy together and "everything in the garden was rosy".

Then, one unfortunate day I was hit by a car in a blizzard. The driver did not see me. I was not badly injured, but had a history of epilepsy. The shock triggered off my epilepsy which became a problem again. It would probably have re-settled itself, if it had not been for the antagonistic treatment I received from the NHS.

The real cause of the problem was Brendan, a newly qualified G.P. just started at a practice near my partner's gran's house. He was the lodger of my partner's grandmother's sister two doors away and also 3 doors from my partner's mother's house. I was young then and too inexperienced in life to be fully aware of the potential of a conflict of interest situation arising, when he suggested I left my own G.P. practice and he would take me on and sort the problem out. This was to be the undoing of the rest of my life!
